brunch

Brunch with my girlies. It been long years over with these girls - since high school days. I appreciate how relationships like these last over so many chapters, season and changes in our lives. Over time, I've realized it wasn't so much of how often we got together, celebrating over birthdays, in between pockets of our time, the little joys and perils of life (on whatsapp) and finding space for each other is what I'm all for. On a whim of the long weekend, we decided to try out Jibby East - (after an endless conversation of where in the world is it? and having someone nearly heading toward the opposite direction) Drove past it many times along the MRR2 wondering whatever was up on that hill. Turns out they brought in this restaurant alongside the show gallery. And yes we had a little laugh over the name.

Us fawning over the ceramic, insisting on having a table by the window - but of course. Not being able to decide what to eat. The usual. but this time with an addition of Baby Kayleigh adding to the pandemonium. Foodwise, the only memorable item was the mushroom soup. 

PS : those buttery leather seats and blue upholstered ones on the opposite side - love. 

saturday mornings

Saturday mornings are for big breakfast. As mentioned previously, I've been gearing myself up to find the aesthetics in the little things. What can be more pleasing to the eye than good food?  Saturday mornings usually consist of me waking up (thanks body clock) by 9ish 10 and quietly creeping out to the kitchen, finding whatever's left of that week's fridge remains and throwing them into the pan - hopefully not waking up A in the process.

Last Saturday was no different - leeks, potatoes, long beans in a my own version of a fritata topped with avocado and some spicy drummets. (yes frozen drummets, hehs.) When peaches craves drummets, you give her drummets. To top it off, a little fruit - yellow kiwis are a current favourite from my father. 

On a side note : considering my poor poor record of keeping plants alive in the house (2 dead succulents believe it or not), am proud to report that our fiddle leaf plant is still growing strong. All my hopes are on that one. Don't give up on me now.

seems like it's been forever since I last picked up the 5D MKII and shot something. Been inspired lately by finding aesthetics in daily rituals and discovering my joy once again making the beautiful. Lets hope this continues on. 

dying roses given from my mum a week ago. Can anybody tell me how to keep them surviving for more than a week? mine seemed to droop right after day 2. Favourite ceramics gifted from Aunty Margaret all the way from Japan. I'm not a fan of gifts, (because of my particular taste) but its truly a pleasure when you receive something that truly gives you pleasure just looking at it. 

appiest days

written on the 20th of Feb 2014 : remembering tonight - probably one of the happiest days. and  in the instant i say happiest days, i recall another amazing "happiest days". these two dates will probably stay embedded in my thoughts for days and days to come.

7th April 2012 - the night before Easter Sunday, watching a friend give her life to God. and getting baptized the next morning too, alongside people whom i've come to regard as family.

spanish seas

back during our trip to Barcelona in January. This was from a day trip up to the little fishing village of Cadaques up north the coast. Loving the coolness and crisp blue against the stark white buildings. It was almost like someone made a hybrid of Positano and Santorini minus the cliffs and high grounds.
